Bratislava, Slovakia. The castle. In the 1809, the castle was bombarded by Napoleon cannons and in 1811 a fire destroyed most of the castle. The castle was reconstructed by volunteers without the support of the Communist government. The reconstruction started in 1955 and finished in 1968. In the foreground the statue of St. Elizabeth of Hungary who is thought to have been born in 1207 at Bratislava Castle.
