'St. Nicholas Church, Liverpool', 1812. Members of the congregation had repeatedly warned officials that the spire was unsafe but nothing was done. During morning service on Sunday 11 February 1810, the spire crashed into the nave below, killing 25 people. A new tower was built between 1811 and 1815.
