HOUSTON — Texas Army National Guard Staff Sgt. Chelsey Walter, with the Texas National Guard Joint Counterdrug Task Force, is presented the Coast Guard Commendation Medal by Coast Guard Rear Adm. Richard Timme Aug. 19, 2022, at Coast Guard Air Station Houston. Timme is the Eighth Coast Guard District Commander, which includes Coast Guard operations in the coastal region with more than 900 miles of coastline and 1,200 miles of Intracoastal Waterways. Walter, who is assigned as an investigative case and analysis support member to the Coast Guard in Houston in support of their counternarcotics operations, led the development of a new analytical product and interagency information sharing methodology to track certain narcotic activities along the Texas Gulf Coast. The success of this analytical product has now expanded to include the entire coastline of the Gulf of Mexico and eastern seaboard as it continues to improve information sharing capabilities for military and law enforcement groups for more unified counternarcotics coordination nationwide.
