Tulip (Tulipa pulchella) flower. Close-up of the centre of a tulip flower showing the reproductive parts. Six stamens can be seen in a ring around the stigma (pale yellow), which is on the end of a thick style (black, centre). Each stamen consists of an anther (dark red) on the end of a filament (black). The anthers are covered in yellow pollen grains when ripe.
