Triumpal arch honouring the dead of the French Revolutionery and Napoleonic Wars. The monument was designed by Jean Chalgrin in 1806 and the figures depict brave naked French youths against Germanic warriors clad in chainmail. The tomb of the Unknown Soldier of World War One lies beneath the arch.
