In 1881, before the Northern Pacific Eailway wascompleted, he drove with horses overland from Bismarck,Xorth Dakota, to the Yellowstone. After making the en-tire circuit of the Park with his camera he returned withphotographic proof that the reports of that wonderfulregion, brought back by trappers and explorers, had notbeen exaggerated. In August, 1883, as photographer, heaccompanied the distinguished party which included Presi-dent Arthur, his Secretary of War, Senator Vest, Gover-nor Crosby of Montana, and other prominent as Official Photographer on two occasions (1887.
