An 1841 receipt for partial payment of English parish council rates in the parish of Helredale for a Mr Worthy, (ten pence paid). The collector was Mr T Cross. The charges for street lighting & upkeep of roads and pavements is shown. They were due for payment on Lady Day (25th March, he Feast of the Annunciation, commemorating the visit of the archangel Gabriel to the Virgin Mary, to tell her she would become the mother of Jesus Christ.
