Casa de Fusta, wooden house. Information center and an ornithological museum, Ebro Delta Natural Parrk , Amposta, Tarragona

The Casa de Fusta , this emblematic building in the delta is now a facility of the Nature Reserve of Ebro Delta which has an information center and an ornithological museum that shows a complete collection of the most representative of the local fauna. But its functionality was not originally the same. To know which has been the historical process that has led to the current meaning of the “Casa de fusta”, we must refer to 1926, when three wealthy gentlemen from Barcelona attracted by the large number of waterfowl that housed the Encanyissada lagoon decided to found a hunting society which got a grant of ten years to fire in this lagoon. The provisional nature of this contract and the need to settle in a house duringtheir stay in the Delta, found the construction of this detachable shelter made of wood expressly brought from Canada which led to their high cost (350,000 Pesetas).
