Half-legth portrait of Alexander Campbell (12 September 1788 – 4 March 1866), an early leader in the Second Great Awakening of the religious movement that has been referred to as the Restoration Movement, or Stone-Campbell Movement. He was born in Northern Ireland and was the son of Thomas Campbell, who was himself one of the early leaders of what eventually became the Restoration Movement. It was Alexander’s father, Thomas Campbell, who wrote the “Declaration and Address” in 1809 that helped to give birth to this new movement. Chromolithograph by J. Boglo published by Carroll & Co. circa 1872
