In the upper extremity they are found on the palmar aspect of themetacarpo-phalangeal joint in the thumb, developed in the tendon of theflexor brevis pollicis, occasionally one or two opposite the metacarpo-phalangeal articulations of the fore and little fingers, and still more rarelyone opposite the corresponding joints of the third and fourth fingers. Those found in the tendons, which glide over certain bones, occupy thefollowing positions : one in the tendon of the peroneus longus, where itglides through the groove in the cuboid bone; one which appears later inthe tendon of the tibialis a
