Business has not been good of late and prices on the average are a little lower than tliose of a week ago. Roses have been moving sluggishly and are only cleaned up at \(rw prices. There is a marked scarcity of American Beau- ties, but an abundance of all other roses. The popular varieties continue to be Ophelia, which is easily the most popu- lar as well as most profitable rose today; Lady Alice Stanley, Killarney Queen, Killarney Brilliant, Hadley, Hoosier Beauty, Ward and Kussell. Prices run all the way from $10 per thousand to the same amount per hundred, with some fancies a little higher. Carnation conditions have not changed much from a week ago. Violets are abundant and cheap; so are sweet peas. Many of the latter now are of splendid quality. Dutch bulbous flowers are overabundant and are cleared with great difficulty. Lilies are more plentiful and For- mosa takes the lead. Yellow mar- guerites arrive more freely, but sell out nicely. Snapdragons are of much bet- ter quality, with Xelrose the best of the pinks. Cornflowers are extra fine, but do not sell well. Callas are in large supply, with Godfrey the leader. There are now heavy supplies of calendulas, anemones, ranunculi and primroses. Gardenias are in the main short- stemmed and sell cheaply, but the call for cattleyas has been good. Green supplies are meeting with a better sale. Club Field Day at Waverley.
