Since founding Cardston, and tak-ing up his residence here, PresidentCard and his estimable wife havebeen untiring in their efforts for the settlement, developmentand up-building of these communities, and verily have theybeen both father and mother to a large and growing labors, however, have been like bread cast upon the waterand their reward is Mrs. C. O. Card. BISHOP JOSIAH A. HAMMER. One of Cardstons most prominent pioneers is Josiah , whose portrait and residence appear in the pages of thisbook. He is bishop of the Cardston ecclesiastical ward of the Mormon Church, and is a comparatively wealthy stock-raiserand a shrewd business man. He is a stockholder and directorin the Cardston Co., Limited, the pioneer mercantile institutionof the town, and was the first Overseer of the village, beingunanimously elected to that honorable position.
