Fire screen seller, c1680, from Cries of London, (c1819?). Artist: John Thomas Smith

Fire screen seller, c1680, (c1819?). Fire screen seller of the late 17th century whose cry was 'I have Screenes if you desier to keep your Buty from ye fire'. He is holding up an example of his wares. Fire screens kept the heat of an open fire off your face while allowing you to warm the rest of your body. From Cries of London, (c1819?).
