S. Cavalry. He was promoted first lieutenant April 26, 1869, andcaptain December 20, 1880. He served on frontier dutyin Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, and Washing-ton, from 1868 to 1890, participating in the Big Hornand Yellowstone Expedition in 1876 against SittingBulls band of Sioux Indians. He was regimental quartermaster of the Second Cav-alry from Jul}- 15, 1870, to September 15, 1874, andadjutant of the Second Cavalry from March 31, 1878, toAugust 31,1880.
