John, Captain in the Rifle Brigade, who assumed the surname of Henderson,on succeeding to the estate of Westerton, at the decease of his uncle, JohnHenderson, esq. in whose family the lands of Westerton had been for severalhundred years. III. Euphemia-Mayne, who d. unmarried in 1823. IV. Catherine-Glas. Mr. Alexander, a deputy-lieutenant, &c. succeeded to Powis upon the demise of hiscousin, James Mayne, esq. in This family, which claims to be a branchfrom the same root as the Earls of Stir-ling, inherits the lands of Powis from theheiress of Mayne, whose progenitors, de-scending from the Maynes of Lochwood,were settled near Stirling, and have beenlanded proprietors in that neighbourhoodsince the commencement of the fifteenthcentury. William Mayne, living femp. QweewMARYand James VI. held in fee, from the baronof TuUibodie (Alexander), the lands of Pile,within a few miles of Stirling, then the chiefresidence of the family, in which, as well asin the possessions in Clackmannanshire, hewas s. by his son, John Mayne, esq. h. in 1586, who m. first,Catherine Kerr, of the family of Fairney-hirst, and had issue, John, who m.
