View W from Iron Age promontory fort & Early Christian monastic site at Kildonnan, Isle of Eigg, across Poll nam Partan bay to the distinctive volcanic ridge of An Sgur. St Donan (Donnan) established his monastery in the C7th but he & his 52 companions were murdered after saying Mass on Easter night 617. The sloping sandy beach is an ideal landing place for small boats & there are 3 excavated burial cairns, 2 Viking, one Neolithic, in the area between the fort & Kildonan House.
