The Chinese Primrose in its numerous varieties, is gener- ally acknowledged to be the best winter-blooming plant for the amateur's window. Easily started from seeds, which should be sown during the spring, to have blooming plants by winter. Sow in sifted, well-packed woods earth, with good drainage, and water rather sparingly. The little plants will appear in from two to four weeks, and should be potted off before they crowd each other. An even moderate moisture should be maintained. Plants often do better in tin cans than in earthen pots. They bloom in a rather cool room, and in either sun or shade.
