In politics he was aDemocrat, and in religion a Baptist, but as to theformer he cared but little. He first married, in 1837,Caroline P. Thompson, a native of Willimantic,and to this marriage came the following children:Milford C, the subject of these lines; Collins V.,born Aug. 2, 1841, served with the Sixteenth C. , in the Civil war, and is now living in the West;Rienzi W., born July 5, 1843, 1S aso a resident ofthe West; Alfred C. and Albert C. (twins) wereborn Sept. 2, 1844, the former of whom is living inGlastonbury, the latter in Providence. The mother. The secondmarriage of Horace Thompson, Jr., was with SarahGrover, a widow who lives in VVethersfield with herson Myron Thompson, who was born in October,1876. The father, Horace Thompson, Jr., diedAug. ty, 1883 (the same day that President Gar-field expired), and his remains are interred in EastHartford. Milford C. Thompson was but a year old whenhis parents removed from Windham to Columbia,and at the latter place he attended school until seven-teen years old.
