Canyons, Peru, satellite image. The Cotahuasi (left) and Colca (right) are Peru's largest canyons. Erosion by the Rio Cotahuasi and the Rio Colca have cut both these to over 3,400 metres at their deepest. The Pacific Ocean is seen bottom left of image. Image taken in May 2014 by the OLI (Operational Land Imager) on board the Landsat 8 space satellite. This image covers an area measuring 185 kilometres squared.
