He was a good scholar, having,beside his common-school education, studied severalterms at an academy, and was engaged in a course ofstudies at the normal school in Bridgewater, prepar-ing himself for future usefulness, of which he gavegreat promise, when he was prostrated by consump-tion. Lucius Clapp is the eighth in direct descent fromThomas, the emigrant, and was born in North Bridge-water (now Brockton), Mass. He was educated atcommon and private schools ; was reared a farmer;took pride in agriculture, and has always followedthat avocation, and is to-day one of the representative. ^#^^^^
