Dry periods, up to 45 days, were ex- perienced in the early days of the season, when the young plants needed moisture most, and as a result, plants got off to a slow start, and moderate to heavy losses at that time cut the overall production. Later, conditions became more favorable and as a result sup- plies are somewhat better than last year, but still under normal supply.
