RIDDEL, ROBERT MACKIE: 2nd Lieu-tenant, 10th Battalion Gordon Highland-ers ; son of John Rid-del, settmaker; bornKintore, 7 March1892 ; educated atKintore PublicSchool, where heserved as a pupilteacher ; student inArts, 1912-14. He enlisted in the6th Gordons on 15October 1914. InNovember of the sameyear he was drafted toFrance, and a month later was invalided to France in May 1915, he dis-tinguished himself at the battle of Loos, and for. gallantry was recommended for a received his commission in December 1915and was attached to the 10th Gordon High-landers. On 1 July 1916 he was instructing aclass on the action of bombs, when the bombexploded in his hands and killed him. His : He was an excellent officer in everyway and had proved himself of great value in thefield on many occasions. ... I shall find ithard to fill his place in the Battalion. ROBERTSON, ALEXANDER WALKER:Private, Berkshire Regiment (Capt., retd.,Gordon Highlanders) ; son of R. Robertson ;born Peterhead, 1875 ; educated AberdeenGrammar School; student in Arts, was for some time a partner in the firm ofMessrs. A. W. Robertson, Solicitors, Peter-head, and latterly was in practice in served as a Lieutenant during the Boer Warwith the 2nd Gordons and was decorated withthe Queens Medal and three clasps.
