Salmon netting boats on the River Tweed at Paxton in the Scottish Borders on a sunny summers day with stunning reflections of the sky in the river.

Netting salmon has taken place on the river Tweed for centuries. Paxton House is one of the last remaining netting stations on the river Tweed and still uses the traditional method of netting using a coble or small boat. The net is rowed out in the coble to form a large semi-circle and then pulled in by hand. Since 2015, netting fish at Paxton is strictly for conservation. The Tweed Foundation working in partnership with the Paxton Fishery now run a research station here. Salmon are tagged and released back into the river. Visitors are welcome to come and watch the netting and learn about the research findings.
