GEARING AND GEAR MOTION, ETC. 237. 616. PARALLELISM FROM CIR-CULAR MOTION. A central pulleywhich is stationary and belted to a pulleyof the same size, but loose on an arm re-volving around the stationary pulley, willhave an indicator arm on the movingpulley always in the same direction. An idler pinion on the arm between twoequal gears will also produce the sameeffect on revolving the arm and indexwheel around the central gear wheel. 617. CIRCULARLY VIBRATING MOTION. A ring plate pin-ioned to three gears drivenby a central gear, or a rightand left screw worm, lefthand figure, will swing thering plate in a circle equalto twice the distance ofthe wrist pins from thecenter of the gear wheels.
