Foot and mouth disease vaccine research. Molecular biologist (background) and research associate viewing the effect of mutations on the three-dimensional structure of the polymerase protein from foot and mouth disease virus (FMDV) particles (virions), as part of research to develop FMD vaccines. FMDV affects cloven-hooved mammals, commonly cattle and pigs, and is highly contagious.
