The AberdeenrAngus breed. — Other popular names forthis breed are Polled Angus and Black Polled. The coloris black over the entire body. There are no horns; evenamong the half-blood Angus grades very few animals havehorns. In size, the Angus is slightly below the Herefordand Shorthorn. It has a very blocky, rounded body. TheGalloway,(Fig. 191) is another black, hornless-rbreed. The Shorthorn breed. —The horns are short, and in thecow they are gracefully curved. The principal colors are(i) solid red, (2) red and white mixed, and (3) roan, that is,a mottling of red and white. The Shorthorns are widelydistributed over the United States.
