The Doppler effect is a physical phenomenon that changes the frequency of waves perceived by an observer as a function of the movement of the source. The Doppler radar uses this characteristic to evaluate the direction in which a cloud is moving. If the frequency received is higher than the frequency emitted, the target is getting closer to the antenna. If it is lower, the target is moving away.
