Pantokratoras castle in the "mouth" of the Ambracian gulf, Preveza town, Epirus, Greece
This is Pantokratoras castle, one of the 5 castles you can see in Preveza town and around. It guards the mouth of the Ambracian gulf, with the "help" of the Aktion castle, on the other side of the gulf. It was constructed during the first years of the 19th century, when Ali Pasha was rulling the town. In turkish, the castle was called "Uc Kale", which I think means, "Castle of the edge". The name "Pantokratoras", comes from the church of Pantrokratoras inside the castle (you can see its red roof, above the walls. Beside the castle, there is a neighborhood under the same name, which was created after the exchange of populations between Greece and Turkey after 1924. This neighborhood hosted 57 families of refugees, that came from the coastal region of Minor Asia.
