Hewas descended from (apt. Hezekiah Wells, from (apt. Ammi Trumbull, andfrom Major John Mason. John Mason, the first Major-General of Militia of New England, was born in theDutch Netherlands about 1600. He had a military training. He is supposed tohave been a member of the Dorchester Immigration of 1630. In he was sentwith twenty men to break up a gang of pirates, and for his services was made a Cap-tain. In 163
