The Chinese Labour Corps, the forgotten Army of WW1

From the Great War published in 1918 photographer uncredited. Sometimes referred to as the forgotten army or even the forgotten of the forgotten. The Chinese Labour Corps did support work to free up soldiers for front line duties. After the war most were repatriated. No memorial exists to them despite thousands of deaths (between 2,000 & 20,000 depending on either official or Chinese estimates). They were rewarded with bronze medals as opposed to the silver ones struck for the people they aided. These medals contained only a number not a name. Unsurprisingly many in China were insulted by this & subsequent actions at Versailles they saw as broken promises by the Allies.
