The milling ore, chiefly wall rock of rich veins, is hard andcompact, and contains the silver in the native form. This silveris not commonly disseminated through the rock as a replacementdeposit, but occurs rather as a filling, generally with smaltite orniccolite, in the minor fractures. Most of the ore is in theHuronian series, which are very fine to medium grained siliceoussediments. Ore in diabase is characterized by smaller percentageof the associated arsenides.
