The Cathedral of the Holy Trinity was built in 1830-1857 and was designed by architect V. P. Stasov. The cathedral building can be seen tens of kilometers from the city. This is one of the most famous buildings of Morshansk. The cathedral is an almost exact copy of the Transfiguration Cathedral in St. Petersburg. According to the Morshansky legend, the merchants wanted to build a new temple certainly higher than the capital, but when considering the project, Emperor Nicholas I said: Do not build higher than Isaac. The dictum of the emperor has been preserved only by word of mouth, any historical documents confirming these words are unknown today. Кафедральный собор Троицы Живоначальной построен в 1830−1857 годах построен по проекту архитектора В. П. Стасова. Здание собора видно за десятки километров от города. Это одно из наиболее известных строений Моршанска. Собор представляет собой практически точную копию Преображенского собора в Санкт-Петербурге. Согласно моршанскому преданию, купцы хотели построить новый храм непременно выше столичного, однако при рассмотрении проекта император Николай I сказал: Выше Исаакия не строить. Изречение императора сохранилось только изустно, какие-либо исторические документы, подтверждающие эти слова, на сегодня неизвестны.
