Kyrgyzstan is a Central Asian state bordering China, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan it became independent with the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991 the Tian Shan mountain range lies in the country in the border region of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of western China.
