Moored as an art installation by the Thames from 2014-15, HMS President, one of only three surviving Royal Navy warships from the First World War, was ÔdazzledÕ by the German sculptor Tobias Rehberger. HMS President actually served as a Dazzle Ship during the First World War under its original name HMS Saxifrage. And, believe it or not, this surreal, jagged motif is based on a real camouflage pattern, used originally to confuse enemy U-boat captains.
