Farnham Common, UK. 28th November, 2022. Birch Polypore fungi known as Piptoporus betulinus growing on dead limbs of silver birch trees in the ancient woodlands of Burnham Beeches. Birch Polypore are also known as Razorstrop Fungus because of its hard surface that can be used for sharpening razors. Burnham Beeches is a Site of Special Scientific Interest, a National Nature Reserve and a European Special Area of Conservation where many rare and threatened species of fungi can be found.
