Ophelia claims the next place in line. Probably the poorest seller is Killarney, but even it cleared readily. Carnations are still in short supply, especially long-stemmed stock, of which there is practically no supply at all. Prices are high and are often in excess of the real value of the blooms, which for the most part are not top-notch qual- ity. The situation now, however, is commencing to ease, as some growers, and especially those who planted early, are now commencing to cut more heavily. In general, carnation crops are late. Valley remains about the same, enough but none too much. Orchids are more plentiful and prices are lower. Calendulas are commencing to arrive and some excellent stock is being re- ceived. The gladiolus season is over, the last blooms probably having reached the market. A few good rubrum lilies may be seen. There are enough Easter lilies. Violets are selling moderately well. Chrysanthemums arrive in steadily in- creasing supply. White, yellow, pink and lavender are all coming in. The demand has been excellent, with good prices obtaining. Fancy stock was at a premium.
