Car competitors on the Fingle Section of the 2015 Exeter Trial. The Exeter Trial is a genuinely historic event. First run in 1906 it represents the start of the democratisation of transport. Before 1900 you either walked or rode a horse. If you didn't own land you didn't own a horse. By 1918 the people could aspire to a motorbike or car. The Reliability Trials proved to the public that petrol powered vehicles were practical. Fingle Bridge near NT Castle Drogo predates the Castle. Celebrate it!
