The Cerulean Warbler, as a summerresident in Eastern North America,ranges as far north as southern On-tario, as far west as Nebraska, andsouth to Louisiana and Texas. Thebird is not common in the states ofthe Alleghany mountains, and in manyplaces does not occur at all. Thespecies breeds mainly in the Australzones. Western New York, westernPennsylvania and western West Vir-ginia seem to be favorite haunts ofthese Warblers, for in these placesthey are quite plentiful. They winterin northern South .Dendroica cerulea is a bird of thetree-tops, spending most of its timein the upper parts of the woodlancand seldom descending to the under-growth. It gleans harmful insects andlarvae (of the orders, Diptera, Lepi-doptera and Hemiptera) from theopening buds and tender seems to have provided thisspeci
