Thus, if not all sisters, they are, at any rate, some sort of cousins, more or less "; So the naming of the daisies, after all, shows a degree of public discernment or discrimination that has been somewhat, if not entirely, scientific. The Shasta Daisy. So far, in the body of this article, the Shasta daisy has been omitted from the category, not because it is unworthy of mention, but because, on the contrary, it is one of the best and most beautiful of daisies and has therefore been re- served as a sort of climax. The Shasta daisy is an improved form of Chrysan- themum maximum and is listed among Luther liurbank's "; Alaska, the variety of Shasta shown in the illustration on the preceding page, is one of the most popular of the group, owing to the largo size of the flowers, their lasting qualities, their pure white color and their long, strong stems. Other excellent Shasta deriva- tives are King Edward VII and Mrs. Lothian Bell. A few suggestions on the culture of the Shasta are here appended. Culture of Shasta Daisies.
