Parallel processing: macrophotograph of an array of individual rectangular Inmos transputers, microprocessor chips that contain all the essential components of a traditional computer system. The term \transputer\" is a hybrid of transistor and computer. A single transputer houses a central processing unit (CPU), random access memory (RAM) and four serial links.
