A dead Sperm Whale (Physeter macrocephalus) washed up on Balmedie Beach near Aberdeen. The animal is lying on its left side. It is approximately 30 feet (10 metres) long, and weighs approximately 25 tons. The carcase has started to rupture due to decomposition; it has been ashore approx 48 hours.
