Hazara soldiers of Harakat e Islami on the front line between Shia and Sunni militia groups. This photo was taken in spring 1994 shortly before the invasion from Pakistan of the Taleban. This group was supported by the United States via the CIA, hence the presence of an Armalite M16 assault rifle.
