The Lowestoft wind turbine was completed in 2004 and was Suffolk's first commercial wind turbine. Built by SLP Energy, it took just 4 days to rerect and is located at Britain's most easterly point, Ness Point. Standing some 126m (413 ft) high this giant wind turbine can be seen towering over the town from miles around and is estimated to generate MW of electricity, enough to power 1500-1600 homes. The rotor diameter is 92m (301 ft) and each of the 3 blades weighs 10 tonnes.
