The plants left were mostly the larger ones. Cut flowers cleaned up better than plants. William Kidwell, on Forty-third street, did one-third more business on the three days preceding Easter this year than a year ago and sold almost completely out of plants by Saturday night. The Sunday corsage trade, how- ever, was wiped out, but no stock loss was sustained, as the store cleaned out on cut flowers the night before and did not buy in the rain. W. E. Lynch, of A. L. Vaughan & Co., says he does not recall a time when the florists, wholesalers, growers and re- tailers, had to contend with so much in the way of adverse weather conditions as March 21, 22 and 23, but adds that even at that the weather could not block activities entirely.
