To help out further, Charles Jellett, former bookkeeper at the Boland store, has gone with the new company. Messrs. Shellgrain and Bitter are well satisfied with initial business, sales having been heavy since the first day. The store has a wide frontage on Kearny street, providing excellent display facilities, and the interior is conveniently and attractively arranged. When the final touches are put on, including the instal- lation of additional wall mirrors, there will be nothing left to be desired from any standpoint. December 16 was opening day for the new store of C. C. Navlet & Co., on Market street, oflE First street. Louis Picetti, who had charge of the branch maintained in the Emporium, is manager. He is assisted by his brother John. The location is consid- ered especially favorable for the seed and plant departments of the business, and it is believed cut flowers will have a good sale also, although this line, to start with, is being handled on a small scale.
