Cat flea head. Coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of a cat flea (Ctenocephalides felis) amongst cat fur. An eye is seen at the centre of the flea's head. Combs, known as ctenidia, at the top of the head help to anchor the flea to the cat's hairs. The flea feeds on the cat's blood, but only remains on the animal whilst feeding.
