Denver, Colorado - Geoff Hargreaves, curator at the National Ice Core Laboratory, places insulation in a box of ice cores being shipped to a scientist. The lab stores 19,000 meters of ice cores from Antarctica, Greenland, and North America at -36 degrees C (-33 degrees F). The ice cores are available to scientists studying climate change and other issues. The lab is part of the Geological Survey, funded by the National Science Foundation.
