Frank W. Dyson (1868-1939), British astronomer. Dyson studied mathematics and astronomy at Cambridge University. He was Astronomer Royal and director of the Royal Greenwich Observatory from 1910 to 1933. He was noted for his study of solar eclipses and also implemented the radio time system for the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) and the transmission of 6 'pips' on the hour.
