STS-57 extravehicular activity (EVA). Astronaut Low photographed standing at the end of the Shuttle's Remote Manipulator System arm during an EVA. The RMS is used to manoeuver astronauts to allow them to capture satellites such as the EURECA platform, seen here parked in the rear of the cargo bay. This EVA was part of Mission STS-57 of 21 June to 1 July 1993. It was intended to investigate EVA techniques for the servicing mission to the Hubble Space Telescope, or any future Space Station and to gain general EVA experience both for the astronauts and the ground controllers.
