Thermogram of the back of a young boy suffering from chronic juvenile arthritis (Still's disease), showing the recurrence of inflammation in the right elbow 2 months after a steroid injection. The inflamed area appears yellow & orange. A thermogram is a colour-coded image of heat distribution, in this case, over the surface of the body. Blue corresponds to the coolest areas, whilst green, yellow & red correspond to increasing steps in temperature. Compare with M110/233 which shows the inflamed joint before treatment, & M110/234, which shows resolution of inflammation following a steroid injection.
